Sport Kites

Sport kites are not to be confused with those used for kite surfing. A sport kite is not intended to pull someone across land or water, and is instead more akin to a standard kite. They are “piloted” by a person on the ground that controls the kite through a combination of tethers.

There are differences between sport kites and those you would buy at the average toy store. These kites are designed to perform aerial acrobatics and often take a great deal of practice to master. They are available in a number of different designs, each with their own unique flying characteristics.

Beginner sport kites are designed for the novice pilot and are stable and exceptionally easy to handle. Freestyle kites are designed for extreme maneuverability and are capable of performing very complicated acrobatics. There are also ballet kites, low wind kites and dual-line parafoil designs.
